2019 Summer Camps

The 2019 LabRats Summer Science camps will be offered in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito's Center for a Healthy Lifestyle. 

Slime and Everday Chemistry June 24-28, 9am-12pm, located at 533 Lomas Santa Fe Dr, the Harper branch Boys and Girls Club

Every day we use common household products, but we have no idea about the crazy chemistry that each product utilizes for its purpose, from soap to bleach to the food we eat, discover the crazy world of chemistry we use every day. Plus learn some fun chemistry like creating your own slime and crystals.

Cooking Coding and Rocketry  July 8-12 and/or July 29-Aug 2, 9am-3pm, located at 1221 Encinitas blvd, the Griset branch Boys and Girls Club

Campers will spend the morning cooking Greek Cuisine and participating in computer programming and data visualization experiments with he Boys and Girls Club. Then students will discover the basic concepts behind the field that took us to the moon by build their own air or water powered rockets, build and test a heat shield, parachute, and discuss topics such as the challenges of space colonization.

Science of Life July 22-July 26, 9am-12pm, located at 1221 Encinitas Blvd, the Griset Branch Boys and Girls Club

Life is a remarkable phenomenon. Students will learn a wide sample of biology from plants to the human body. In this camp, students extract their own DNA, measure nutrients in soil, and measure their own lung capacity to discover how life has adapted to its environment.
